A free bill splitting app, with no catch.

Splitting a bill costs nothing, and there is no account to create before you can do it. The paid tier exists, but everyday splitting is not what it is for.

How it works

Three steps between the receipt and everyone paying their share

Scan any receipt
01

Scan any receipt

Snap a photo — crumpled, long, handwritten, in any currency. The AI pulls out every line item, tax, and service fee in a couple of seconds.

Drag people onto items
02

Drag people onto items

Long-press a friend’s chip and drop it on what they ordered. Shared appetizer? Tap "Split All" and it divides fairly, tax and fees included.

Share the breakdown
03

Share the breakdown

Everyone gets an itemized total — down to their share of the tax. Send it by WhatsApp, iMessage, or anything else. No app needed on their end.

What free covers

A birthday dinner where one person pays nothing

Group size is the usual worry with a free tier. Here is a table of six where the birthday person is being treated, so five people cover the whole bill including her meal.

The bill

  • Drinks for the table (5 paying)$55.00
  • Birthday meal (split by the other 5)$32.00
  • Shared cake (5 paying)$30.00
  • Ana’s main$26.00
  • Ben’s main$24.00
  • Cara’s main$22.00
  • Dev’s main$21.00
  • Eli’s main$19.00

Total$229.00

What the five paying owe

  • Ana $49.40 Her main, plus a fifth each of the drinks, the cake, and the birthday meal.
  • Ben $47.40 Same shares, smaller main.
  • Cara $45.40 Same shares again.
  • Dev $44.40 Same shares.
  • Eli $42.40 The smallest main. A flat five-way split would have been $45.80.

The birthday person is left off every line, and the other five absorb her meal between them. Nothing in this split needs a paid tier. The five shares add back to $229.

Why SPLIIT Pro

Built for the moment the check hits the table

AI that actually reads receipts

Not a manual expense form. Point the camera at the bill and items appear — up to 5 receipts per split for big group orders.

Fair math, to the cent

Tax, tip, and service fees split proportionally to what each person actually ordered. Nobody subsidizes the lobster.

No sign-up. Really.

Open the app and split. Your friends don’t need to install anything to get their totals.

Free to start

Everyday splitting costs nothing. Go Pro for unlimited scans and history.

What costs nothing

The parts people expect to pay for

The size of your group

The free tier includes a participant allowance. Pro removes that cap for larger groups.

Sending the totals

Everyone gets their itemised share as a message. No per-person charge and nothing for them to buy.

The fair-split maths

Tax, tip, service charges and shared items are all handled on the free tier, not held back as a feature.

Signing up

There is no account, so there is nothing to cancel and no email to unsubscribe from later.

The honest version

What free actually means here

Is SPLIIT Pro free, or free for a trial period?

Free ongoing, not a countdown. Splitting bills does not expire after a fortnight. There is a paid tier, and what it changes is the scanning volume and how much history is kept, rather than switching splitting itself off.

What is actually behind the paid tier?

Pro unlocks unlimited scans and people, removes ads, and keeps full history. The fair-split maths and sending totals remain available on the free tier.

Are there ads in the free version?

The free tier is ad-supported, so you will see advertising in the app. Ads do not appear inside the summary you send out, so the people receiving their share get plain text without anything attached to it.

Do the people I split with have to pay anything?

No. They receive a message with their itemised total and never install the app, create an account, or pay. Only the person doing the splitting uses the app at all, which is the whole point of sending plain text.

Will the free version stop working if I ignore the upgrade prompt?

No. Declining the upgrade leaves the free tier working as it did. The prompt appears where the paid tier would help, which is high scan volume, and dismissing it does not reduce what you already had.

No account, no subscription for everyday splitting, and nothing to cancel if you stop using it.
