Receipt scanning · iOS & Android · No sign-up

An app that scans your receipt and splits it.

Point the camera at the paper. Every line, price, and fee comes out as text you can tap, so a grocery run with three names on it stops being a spreadsheet job.

How it works

Three steps between the receipt and everyone paying their share

Scan any receipt
01

Scan any receipt

Snap a photo — crumpled, long, handwritten, in any currency. The AI pulls out every line item, tax, and service fee in a couple of seconds.

Drag people onto items
02

Drag people onto items

Long-press a friend’s chip and drop it on what they ordered. Shared appetizer? Tap "Split All" and it divides fairly, tax and fees included.

Share the breakdown
03

Share the breakdown

Everyone gets an itemized total — down to their share of the tax. Send it by WhatsApp, iMessage, or anything else. No app needed on their end.

A real scan

One supermarket run, three flatmates, eight items

Shared groceries are where even splits go wrong fastest, because half the basket belongs to one person. Here is the same receipt after scanning, with the shared items divided and the personal ones assigned.

Scanned from the receipt

  • Cat food (Ben)$18.40
  • Chicken breast (Ana)$12.50
  • Beer, 6-pack (Chris)$11.99
  • Olive oil (shared)$9.75
  • Laundry detergent (shared)$8.99
  • Milk (shared)$4.29
  • Bananas (shared)$3.18
  • Pasta (shared)$2.99

Total$72.09

What each flatmate owes

  • Ben $28.13 Cat food, plus a third of the five shared items.
  • Ana $22.23 The chicken and her third of the shared basket.
  • Chris $21.73 Beer and shared items. An even split would have charged him $24.03.

The five shared items come to $29.20 and divide three ways. Everything else lands on one person. The three shares add back to $72.09.

What it reads

Paper that other apps give up on

Long supermarket receipts

Forty items on a metre of thermal paper. Take more than one photo and they join into a single split.

Handwritten bills

The kind you get at a small restaurant or a market stall, where the total is scrawled at the bottom.

Receipts from abroad

Any currency symbol, any decimal convention. It reads what is printed rather than assuming a format.

Faded thermal paper

The ones that have been in a pocket all day. Check the totals, fix any line with a tap.

What people want to know about scanning

Can an app really scan a receipt and split the bill?

Yes. Photograph the receipt and the line items come out as editable text, then you assign each one to a person. The arithmetic, including shared items and any service charge, happens after that. No typing prices in by hand.

How many receipts can I scan into one split?

Up to five for a single split, which covers a long supermarket roll photographed in sections, or a table that ran up drinks on a separate tab. They merge into one itemised list before anyone gets assigned.

Where do my receipt photos go after scanning?

The image is processed so the items can be read, and the split itself lives on your device. Nothing is posted anywhere for other people to see. The summary you send out is plain text, not the photograph.

Does receipt scanning work without an internet connection?

AI receipt scanning needs an internet connection. Plan to scan while you have signal; SPLIIT Pro is not a fully offline receipt tool.

What if the receipt has a service charge or a discount line?

Those come through as their own lines and spread across everyone in proportion to what they ordered. A loyalty discount reduces each share by the same proportion, so nobody has to argue about who the discount belonged to.
