How do you split trip costs when different people paid for different things?
Record each cost against the people it was for, regardless of whose card was used. Who paid and who owes are two separate questions, and mixing them is what turns a weekend into a spreadsheet.
What if someone skips a dinner or an activity?
Assign that cost only to the people who were there. It is the single most common source of trip resentment, and it is fixed by leaving a name off one line rather than by anyone having an awkward conversation.
Can I add expenses during the trip instead of afterwards?
That is the intended way to use it. Photograph the receipt when it happens, while you still remember who was there. Reconstructing a week of costs on the journey home is where the detail gets lost.
Does it handle expenses in more than one currency?
Each receipt is read in the currency printed on it, and amounts stay in that currency. There is no conversion, so a trip crossing a currency border is easiest to keep as separate splits per currency.
Can we settle up once at the end instead of after every meal?
Yes, and most groups do. Each cost is recorded as it happens and the totals sit there until you want them. The point of adding things during the trip is accuracy, not settling every night.
