Split an Airbnb Cleaning Fee Separately from Nightly Costs
Use one rule for fixed booking fees and another for nights occupied when stays differ.
Use one rule for fixed booking fees and another for nights occupied when stays differ. Agree both rules before booking; the provider’s payment schedule does not determine friends’ internal shares.
Read the complete booking breakdown. Treat a one-time cleaning fee as fixed if that is the agreement; allocate accommodation by person-nights. A longer stay then carries more nightly cost without automatically carrying all of the fixed fee. Keep guest counts accurate with the provider.
Worked example
Accommodation costs 240 units over six person-nights: A stays three, B two and C one. Nightly shares: 120, 80 and 40. A 60-unit cleaning fee is shared equally: 20 each. Final shares: A 140, B 100 and C 60; total 300.
| Allocation | Amount |
|---|---|
| A | 140.00 |
| B | 100.00 |
| C | 60.00 |
| Total | 300.00 |
Record the result
Agree the rule first, then enter the calculated amounts and actual payer in SPLIIT Pro. Assign each amount to the relevant people and review the total before sharing the breakdown. The private expense group keeps related bills and recorded partial repayments together. Friends can read shared breakdowns without installing the app; they do not edit your group. Transfer money through another method and record repayment only after it arrives.
These are illustrative units, not current prices. Use the actual bill, currency and agreement; the calculation is explained here, not promised as an automatic feature. Scanning needs a connection and review. The app is free to start with usage limits; Pro adds capacity and removes ads.
Frequently asked questions
Does recording shares split the Airbnb checkout payment?
No. SPLIIT Pro records the group’s agreed costs and repayments. It does not change Airbnb’s checkout, charge multiple cards or arrange provider installments. The person who books pays through the provider’s available methods.
