Split a Subscription During a Promotional Discount
Allocate the amount actually charged during a promotion, unless members explicitly agreed another contribution rule.
Allocate the amount actually charged during a promotion, unless members explicitly agreed another contribution rule. Do not quote the normal advertised price as if it were this month’s receipt.
Check whether the reduction applies to the whole plan, a specific seat or an introductory period. Note when the promotion ends, then review the next actual charge. Do not promise that an introductory price will continue or that an unused discount becomes cash owed by friends.
Worked example
A permitted plan’s normal fictional charge is 30 units, but this cycle is discounted to 18. Three equal members owe 6 each, not 10. If the next actual charge is 30, that separate cycle returns to 10 each under the same equal-share rule.
| Allocation | Amount |
|---|---|
| A | 6.00 |
| B | 6.00 |
| C | 6.00 |
| Total | 18.00 |
Record the result
Agree the rule first, then enter the calculated amounts and actual payer in SPLIIT Pro. Assign each amount to the relevant people and review the total before sharing the breakdown. The private expense group keeps related bills and recorded partial repayments together. Friends can read shared breakdowns without installing the app; they do not edit your group. Transfer money through another method and record repayment only after it arrives.
These are illustrative units, not current prices. Use the actual bill, currency and agreement; the calculation is explained here, not promised as an automatic feature. Scanning needs a connection and review. The app is free to start with usage limits; Pro adds capacity and removes ads.
Frequently asked questions
Should the payer keep the entire promotional saving?
Follow the agreement. Equal shares of the actual charge pass the saving to all participants; an explicitly agreed fixed contribution can differ. Explain the rule before collecting money, and do not describe the illustrative amounts as current provider prices.
